D-Day was only the start of the Great Battle of Normandy
Specially commissioned to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, this remarkable documentary charts how, on 6th June 1944, the biggest military landings in history took place. Since then, experts have analysed the planning and preparatory operations of D-Day, recognising these could have determined the Allied victory that day. While history gives the impression it was the end of the war, D-Day was actually the first of 85 long days of the Battle of Normandy.
Featuring never-seen-before archive footage of the battle, Battle of Normandy is the result of more than 20 years of research. It contains interviews with World War II experts who describe the strategic military decisions that allowed this battle to take place, and how Normandy, France, and eventually Europe regained their freedom, albeit at great human sacrifice.
